周董的歌适合每个人唱吗？

周杰伦最近发片，歌打得很凶，近来发片一些女歌手，也不约而同邀周杰伦写歌，所以近来不想听到周董的作品也 难。虽然周才子的创作炙手可热，人人抢着唱，可是，他的歌适合每个人唱吗？大家唱得都好听吗？这在我心中可 是个大大的问号。
With Jay Chou’s new album recently released in the market, it has since made a huge impact in the music industry. There are quite a number of female singers who released their albums recently who asked Pres Chou for his compositions. Therefore, it is hard not to take notice of Pres Chou’s work lately. However, despite Pres Chou’s compositions being grabbed like hot cakes by everyone, are his songs and works suitable for everyone? Will the songs still be nice when other artistes sing it? Somehow, I have my doubts.

周杰伦成名后，各方邀约不断，不少天王天后都唱过他的歌。刘德华和张学友的流行敏锐度都很强，也都曾力邀周 杰伦帮忙写歌，不过，他们也很快就发现，或许是周杰伦当时给的歌曲跟他们不对味，也或许是他们唱起周杰伦的 歌曲有时代上的隔阂，所以一般人对于周杰伦写给这两大天王的歌曲「一壶乡愁」和「算命」并没有太深的印象。
Ever since Jay Chou broke into the market ferociously, he has been widely known, and there are numerous Kings and Queens of the industry that sang his compositions. Even singers like Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung had requested help from Jay Chou to write songs for them. However, they soon realised that it is either Jay Chou’s compositions doesn’t fit well to their genre of music, or it may be due to the fact that there is some kind of generation gap between their music; which is why not many people have heard of the two songs Pres Chou had written for the two Heavenly Kings, “(A) Nostalgia Pot” and “Predicting Life).

事隔几年后，我分别和刘德华和张学友聊过这问题，他们的领悟都是：「歌手想求新求变是个过程，但适合自己唱 的歌，终究才是最能够被歌迷所接受的。」徐若瑄这次邀周杰伦写「美人鱼」，过去他们合作过多首歌曲，但老实 说，多半是周杰伦所演唱的版本较为成功。我对徐若瑄的「美人鱼」记忆不深，倒是认为她和曹格合 唱的「I Still Believe」，在目前少有情歌对唱的音乐市场，表现比较突出。
A few years later (after the songs has been released), I spoke to Andy Lau and Jacky Cheung about this issue separately, and both their reaction were, “A singer having to change his style and genre is a natural process, however, it is only the music that fits into your style that will be warmly accepted by the fans.” Vivian Hsu recently got Jay’s help in the song “Mermaid”, frankly speaking, when I look at their past collaborative works, the ones that really stands out between the two are songs sang and performed by Jay. I personally do not have a lasting impression on Vivian’s “Mermaid”, instead, I feel that the song she duet with Cao Ge – “I Still Believe” is a much outstanding song.

许慧欣最近常以民俗风的造型高歌「诗，水蛇，山神庙」，这首歌是周杰伦和方文山的联手创作，听歌名就觉得是 首风格迥异的作品，许慧欣唱起来也果真有「中国民间故事」的感觉，但，怎么听，就是跟带着洋味的她不太搭调 。
eVonne Xu recently sang songs in the ‘folklore genre’ (I don’t quite know how to translate this), her song “Poem, Water Snake, The Mountain Temple” is a song written and composed by Jay Chou and Vincent Fang. Simply by looking at the song title, you can tell that it is a song with certain oriental feel, and eVonne indeed managed to sing the song with a “Chinese folklore” feel, but the however you hear it, it seems to clash with her usual style of singing.

当初许慧欣会走红，靠着是那首强力播送的「爱情抗体」，那一句副歌「I’ll be leaving you…」搭配她在MV的柔美形象，很快就建立高度辨识度。她这次把「诗，水蛇，山神庙」选为第一主打歌， 她的舞娘装扮算是有特色，但若要论歌曲的记忆度，恐怕专辑里第二首的「威尼斯迷路」更贴近她的 个人特质。
“Resist Love” was the song that brought eVonne Xu to fame today, and in the MV of “I’ll be leaving you” which manage to show a very feminine side of her, these factors managed to shoot her to her fame. “Poem, Water Snake, The Mountain Temple” was chosen to be the first single off her new album, and her dancing diva costume in the MV does have her own distinguish style. But based sole on the impression of the song, it is a far second from the second single of her album, “Lost in Venice”.

梁静茹新专辑里也出现周杰伦的创作「失忆」，或许是有五月天协助编曲和制作，这首恬淡清柔的小品，即使是「 周董出品」，但还是保有「梁氏情歌」的味道，在专辑里不算特别突出，但也不显突兀。
There is also another Jay composition, “Amnesia”, in Fish Leong’s new album "Kissing the Future of Love", perhaps because with the help of Mayday in production and mixing, even though the song is ultimately a “Jay Production”, it still managed to bring out Fish’s own style, it is not especially outstanding in her new album, but at the same time, it does leave its impression after hearing it.

流行歌坛中，周杰伦、王力宏和陶吉吉算是当红的３大创作品牌，他们诠释自己的歌都很精准到位，但别人唱他们 的歌，却未必都能咀嚼入味，口碑也就有好有坏。我想，这就像名牌服饰之于人的道理一样，许多人崇尚名牌，但 可不是人人都适合穿CHANEL或PRADA啊！
In the popular music industry today, Jay Chou, Leehom Wang and David Tao can be considered the 3 top producers/composers. Their individual songs and works does indeed have a very strong and lasting impression when performed by themselves, however, that is not necessarily the case when other artistes perform their works, the eventual result could go both ways. I feel that it is somewhat to the similar of branded goods, everyone wants to own branded goods, but not everyone is suitable to wear Chanel or Prada!
