姚蘇蓉退隱14年 周董讓她再紅
周杰伦电影「不能说的‧秘密」卖座狂扫各地，片中使用姚苏蓉唱的老歌「情人的眼泪」，使退隐已14年的姚苏蓉歌声再次风靡，姚苏蓉本人深感意外。
姚苏蓉此刻正在成都老家探亲，有一天，外甥女回来问她：「阿姨，周杰伦那电影里的歌，声音好像你，是不是你唱的啊？」姚苏蓉已经听台北的朋友提起，但心里还是很好奇，毫无渊源的周杰伦怎麼会选中她的歌声？
姚苏蓉说：「我知道他（周杰伦）现在是最红的男歌手，我看过他演的『黄金甲』，也听过他和费玉清唱的『千里之外』，这孩子很有才华。」周杰伦是创作才子，唱腔颠覆了华语歌坛，而记者提到姚苏蓉在早期歌坛也作曲，应是创作前辈，姚苏蓉立即说：「我是小儿科，不能相提并论啦。」
在「不能说的‧秘密」里，周杰伦带桂纶镁到一家二手CD店，为她戴上耳机，说：「这是我最喜欢的一首歌」，此时银幕传来的歌声令人屏息：「为什麼要对你／掉眼泪，你难道不明白／为了爱…」弦乐衬底，字字富有情感，但却又是那麼的内敛，一下子就吸引住了人们的耳朵，年轻观众忍不住问，这是谁唱的？
答案是姚苏蓉。周杰伦说：「我请助理去买回那时候所有的经典老歌，和桂纶镁一起听，最後选了姚苏蓉唱的，因为她的版本特别有味道。」姚苏蓉回忆：「我唱『情人的眼泪』是应李行导演拍同名电影之邀(注1968年)，他希望我用比较慢的调子唱那气氛，我把自己的感情唱了进去，没想到现在的周杰伦也喜欢。」
周杰伦不但有耳力，更有眼光，年轻歌迷或许不熟，但姚苏蓉曾红遍港台、东南亚，退隐前最後一次亮相，是应李行导演之邀，参加第30届金马奖颁奖典礼，当时她以经典金曲「今天不回家」、「负心的人」、「像雾又像花」风靡全场，那年参加金马奖的张国荣，在後台曾主动趋前对姚苏蓉说：「我可不可以跟你合影？」因为香港人从小学国语很多都是透过姚苏蓉红遍香港的歌声，姚苏蓉是他们的偶像。
那年金马奖之後，姚苏蓉不曾公开露面，她旅居吉隆坡，生活幸福美满，多年来港台各地请她复出举办个人演唱会的邀请未曾间断，但姚苏蓉昨天说：「唱不出来罗，真要出来唱，要练习一段时间，不是那麼简单，万一有所闪失，不单是观众的观感，自己有多懊恼，何必呢？所以我始终没有这分勇气。」
